Rye Lane was another South London garage opened to accomodate buses for the tram replacement program and was initially used for services 69,149, and 179. Route 178 was also allocated here until the new Stockwell (SW) garage was opened. A number of buses were also garaged at Rye Lane but operated by New Cross staff until the garage works were completed.
The garage was closed on 22nd March 1969 and the duties were transferred to nearby Peckham (PM).
