Formerly named Hanwell (hence code HW) but with the admin changes of 1950 was renamed Southall to avoid confusion with the trolleybus depot HL. Most of the routes operated from HW did not pass the garage and so crew changeovers were performed mainly at Southall Town Hall or Greenford. Except for a brief foray onto the Night Route N89 none of the routes from Southall ventured into Central London. In September 1982 when the 105 was converted to OPO the garage remained just M operated up till the end. A fire on Christmas day 1985 destroyed part of the garage and this accelerated the closure in August 1986 when the duties were distributed between Hounslow (120, 232) Hanwell (92,105,282,) and Alperton (92). |
