Orignally built as a barracks Dalston Garage was situated at Shrubland Road. D garage was unusual in so much that most of the routes operated were some distance away from the home garage and the crews took their relief at either Hackney Garage or Liverpool Street canteen. Route 9 worked in service from Liverpool Street via Kingsland Road and Dalston Junction but the 11 went via Bethnal Green Road and the 47/78 went via Hackney Road. The garage closed on 25th April 1981 and the operations were transferred to the new Ash Grove premises. The site of the garage is now a housing developement.
