HW allocation replaced by HL. This was part of a series of changes introduced on this day. HW needed the space because the 92 & 105 allocation were increased, the 120 was extended to Greenford and the HL share of the 97 moved from HL to HW, and new route 195 introduced. The 55 filled the gap at HL left by the 97 and the 255 which transferred to Riverside.

RM90 Greenford Red Lion - Jim Blake

30.11.68
Route withdrawn west of Greenford and renumbered E3. The Greenford to Hayes section covered by new 274 Ealing Broadway & Hayes. The Grove Park leg at Chiswick was withdrawn without replacement because the new MBS vehicles allocated to the E3 were too long to negogiate the turn outside the Grove Park Hotel.

HL Hanwell 1965-1968
Crew changeovers at HANWELL Church Road.

HW Southall 1950-1965
Crew changeovers at GREENFORD BROADWAY or GREENFORD Red Lion stand.
Garage journeys left line of route at Greenford and observed service 92 stops to garage, display to read SOUTHALL GARAGE via Greenford Road or left line of route at Hanwell and observed service 207 stops to garage.

V Turnham Green 1950-1968
Crew changeovers at TURNHAM GREEN Crown & Anchor. Garage on line of route.

Personal Comment !
As a child I nicknamed this service "The weaver" because it did exactly that on the Uxbridge Road between Acton & Hayes Grapes. Because of this I suspect the majority of passengers would have been rabbits (short hop riders). Although the RML type was introduced to Hanwell Garage in 1967 I dont think they were ever allocated to the 55 even as a strange visitor.
