Doreen Moles c1957 at Victoria next to her 52. The TIM machine shows she was a GM conductress

This web site was started in 1996 and would not have been possible without the help of Les Stitson from the LOTS organisation who provided me with all the allocation details for every route from 1934 to 1994. I chose to start the histories from 1950 because my interest in buses started around this time but if any reader would like the history from 1934 of any particular route I will be happy to email details. I am a historian not a web designer or creative in any way although I did design the moving blind displays which I believe to be unique.

The CD Roms for sale feature full size photos, and the thumbnails on the site are a deliberate teasers to make you buy. The profits pay for the internet connection, hosting fees and of course the historical photos which I have a few good sources. Please go to www.redrover.co.uk for full details of sales.

I may occasionally use material I believe has been placed in the public domain. Sometimes it is not possible to identify and contact the copyright holder. If you claim ownership of something published on this site I will be pleased to make a proper acknowledgement.

This site is in no way official and I cannot answer any travel enquiries, please email customerservices@tfl-buses.co.uk or telephone 0207 222 1234

Routes

Each route I have tried to give details of allocations, route changes, vehicles used, blind displays, fare charts, official route records, photos, and maps. The list is no way complete and I am sure will not be finished in my lifetime, boredom is not a word I recognise - always a new route or update to be done. I take note of feedback and indeed a few readers did not like the "yellow blinds" and so I am in the process of correcting this to the "old style" black and white with the occasional yellow thrown in.

Photos

A lot of the more recent photos are taken be me and the full pictures are shown but the historical ones are generally sold on CD with the permission of the owners, if you feel that your copyright photo is being sold by me it will be withdrawn immediately. If you would like any image shown on the site, subject to my approval I will provide an acknowledgement to your requirement

Blinds

I have tried to make the blinds as authentic as possible . Some points have had various displays over the years eg Worlds End Chelsea, Stanley Arms, Magpie and Stump, and being a historical site I generally chose the older display.

Trolleybus Conversions

This is a list of all the conversions from 1959 to 1962 and the routes involved.

Updates

Each time I post a new route or make an amendment they will be listed on this page.
